Birth of an Otaku (Black and White Version)

Anyways, my story:
I was 10 years old, and had just moved in to a new house in ************ (location classified). It was the first house my family had ever owned instead of rented, because my dad was in the military and we were used to moving around from base to base, in a bunch of different states. However, he'd retired and taken a job as a recruiter. Anyways, I was a very innocent, small, skinny girl, the kind who wore button-up shirts and ribbons around her neck like a uniform every day. I had never heard of anime, didn't know where Japan was, didn't even know what Youtube was since my parents controlled my computer use. I had watched Yu-Gi-Oh and Digimon, but never became a fan of either or ever realized that the shows were from Japan. Then I met my next-door neighbor Kianna. She showed me cable TV, Youtube, and finnaly, the amazing wonder that is the anime Ouran High School Host Club. At first I was confused, because everything was in Japanese with english subtitles, and my poor innocent mind didn't understand some of the referances.
Afew hours later, though, I was skipping home singing 'Sakura Kiss' to myself. XD
And that was the beggining of my teenage years as an otaku.
I got my first manga from the same next door neighbor. It was Fruits Basket, and the same fay I started reading it I couldn't put it down, and wound up spending the night just to read all of the manga she had. She owned all the books up to the current (1-14), and she gave me the whole thing for my birthday that year. Words cannot describe the amount or intensity of my gratitude. XD
My fate was sealed when I went to my first con. I decided right then and there, "Oh, hell, there's no way I'm ever going to quit this now.... "
